Physiotherapy Cancer Care
- A unique physiotherapy service for people living with cancer

Welcome to Physiotherapy Cancer Care

Physiotherapy Cancer Care is a unique physiotherapy service providing care for people living with and surviving cancer. It also provides negotiated contracts to work with other organisations to help develop or manage cancer / palliative care services. Physiotherapy Cancer Care is run by a highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapist with twenty years of physiotherapy experience, of which thirteen years has been spent specialising in palliative care.

Physiotherapy Cancer Care aims to support and care for people who are living with and surviving cancer through improved treatment regimes. The latter has lead to the need for rehabilitation, which is an integral part of your care from diagnosis onwards (The National Council for Hospice and Specialist Palliative Care Service 2000; Nice Guidelines on Supportive and Palliative Care 2004; Cancer Reform Strategy 2007; Manual for Cancer Services 2008). Rehabilitation in this context is a dynamic, ongoing health-orientated process designed to promote maximum levels of functioning in individuals with cancer related health problems and is an ethical commitment by cancer care providers (Watson 1992; Gonzalez 2004).

Physiotherapists have a large preventative, educative and supportive role to play in your management and can provide you with independent and complementary therapies for physical and psychosocial support (Nice Guidelines on Supportive and Palliative Care 2004). Physiotherapy Cancer Care can provide this physiotherapy service for people living with cancer.

In 2005 'Physiotherapist' became a protected title and can only be used by physiotherapists registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

As a registered Chartered Physiotherapist, Physiotherapy Cancer Care is able to offer you treatments through some medical insurance companies. Please check under 'insurance' in the menu to see if your insurance company is listed.
